“It’s been good… the workshop. I’ve been feeling like I needed something like this. Because I’ve been carrying a lot for so long. And I didn’t know how to let it go. I’ve been letting go of a lot of things now.”

Payton Catcheway

“If someone asks me if they should do it? I would say yes, but just to keep an open mind… But the work you get done is it’s really good.”

“Charlotte… is very open. You could talk to her about anything. And she’s welcoming. You just get this energy from her and it’s just unexplainable.”

Working with the three healers opened my eyes in a way I hadn’t experienced before. They helped me see my life from a new perspective. I had been feeling stuck, caught in a cycle – and without telling me what to do, they helped me find a way out. They offered new ways of seeing, new paths forward. It was like a spiritual awakening.

At the time, I felt very alone, carrying a darkness I hadn’t fully recognized. In the session, so much that I’d been holding came to the surface. And even though it was heavy, it felt freeing. I felt seen, heard, and deeply understood.

This work isn’t always easy especially for those who are new to it. Many people don’t realize how much they’re carrying until they begin to let it go. But the experience was beautiful, calming, and full of love. I left feeling lighter and more grounded.

Skownan is very lucky to have these healers in our community people who are not only gifted, but willing to help create real change. We carry deep intergenerational wounds from many things, but I truly believe that through this healing work, we can move beyond those wounds and start to reclaim our strength.

I see it already in our youth: There are more of our people going to university, graduating high school, reaching their full potential and stepping into their lives in a good way.

That’s the power of healing.

That’s the impact of this work.

It’s an experience of, I guess, you know, like relief. You know, of letting go. Letting go of something that you know you hung on to for years and years, I guess. But like anything else, it’s a layer, you know, it comes in layers, you know, that’s what I’ve learned from being in a healing group or doing healing work – It’s like peeling an onion, they say. One piece at a time, one layer at a time. And sometimes, it takes a lifetime. But whatever you’re able to do at the moment, it’s good, you know, it’s good. It’s heading to that place of being OK.

What I’ve witnessed is, you know, when Charlotte and Duck and Kristy do healing or group work with the youth, you know, especially with my granddaughters, I’ve noticed I’m able to connect with them as a result of them doing healing work. Like there’s common language. You know, it’s good to hear them talk about healing and about doing their own work, you know, with the adults. Say, you know, doing your work, and, and it’s nice to see, to hear that you would say that as well, so, you know, I see hope in our youth now and I have hope that, like, they won’t suffer as long as we did.
