Skownan Healing and Capacity Development Program (SHCDP)

As a former councillor, current band manager for Skownan First Nation and trained facilitator for healing and wellness programs, I am very pleased to welcome you to our website for the Skownan Healing Capacity Development Program.

Our people need all the help they can get in their healing journeys, as we all seek to heal from the intergenerational and other traumas we have been through as a result of Canada’s Indian Act and other genocidal policies.

I would like to thank my fellow healers Duck (Dennis) and Kristy St. Paul, and all of the participants who attended our workshops and doctoring sessions and shared their stories with us, including those who were willing to share their experiences in the workshop and doctoring sessions for the “Walking the Healing Path” video produced by IndigiVision.

My thanks also go out to Clinton Muskego, Neil McCarthy and Aaron Goldman from IndigiVision for their work in filming and editing the video, and being willing and able to film and edit participants for a second time after all of their initial footage, edited video and the program website were all lost due to a catastrophic failure of their data storage system.

We look forward to bringing more programs like this to Skownan in the months and years to come. Please feel free to connect with me if you have suggestions for new programming.

Charlotte Nepinak
